ABOUT THE EVENT
Motorcycle maintenance taught by women, for women. During this free women-only 90-minute workshop, we will teach you the skills and confidence to check and maintain your motorcycle between regular servicing. Get to know your bike better, and take your first steps to mastering motorcycle maintenance. At Machine Alley, we believe that maintaining your bike & knowing how to check whether it needs servicing are essential parts of your safety gear. Knowing that your bike is well-maintained gives you the confidence to focus completely on your riding and the potential hazards around you.
Most motorcycle manuals recommend that you perform at least a dozen pre-ride maintenance & safety checks before every ride.
During this 90-minute workshop, we will give you the skills and confidence to check and maintain your motorcycle between regular servicing.
This kind of work can be performed by anyone, of any age or size. It doesn't require expensive tools and can be practiced in the comfort of your own garage or driveway.
Items covered include
How to assess the age and condition of your tyres.
How to check and adjust your tyre pressure for the conditions.
How to correctly clean and lubricate your chain and sprockets.
How to check your brakes, including brake pad and brake disk wear.
How to check and adjust your levers and controls.
How to check and top up your motor oil and coolant.
How to check the condition of your suspension and adjust for riding conditions.
How to test for lighting faults and change fuses.
At the completion of the workshop, all attendees will receive a Motorcycle Maintenance & Pre-Ride Safety Checks course notebook, and a motorcycle maintenance gift pack valued at over $50.
The skills taught during this workshop in no way replace a bike’s regular maintenance schedule, but should be performed between scheduled servicing to make the rider aware of any potential safety issues or premature wear of essential components of your motorcycle.
As part of the Safer Motorcycling Grants Program, you will be asked to fill out a short 5min survey before and after the workshop.
This program is funded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning through the Safer Motorcycling Grants Program.
