Machine Alley Motorcycle Maintenance Training and Safety Equipment Education Events are funded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning through the Safer Motorcycling Grants Program (SMGP).

Our courses and events focus on educating new and existing riders on the importance of pre-ride motorcycle safety checks, regular maintenance, and a better understanding of the safety ratings for helmets, armour, and clothing.

All SMGP events are free to the public.

What is the Safer Motorcycling Grants Program?

DTP logo_supported by_Black-300px_edited

The Safer Motorcycling Grants Program funds new and innovative projects aimed at improving motorcycle safety in the short and long term.

Fourteen organisations have received grants as part of the $4 million program to deliver a holistic range of projects across three investment categories: technology and intelligent transport solutions (ITS); education and research; and policy and law.

This first-of-its-kind grants program is funded by the Motorcycle Safety Levy.

Motorcyclists are overrepresented in road trauma in Victoria.

Saving motorcycle riders’ lives and preventing serious injuries remains a key road safety challenge. While motorcycle riding continues to grow in popularity, we know motorcyclists are more vulnerable to injury than other motorists.
